Fire Engulfs House In Stanwood At Berkeley Subdivision

June 26, 2008 - 4:07 pm · By Trevor Dickerson

Flames erupted Thursday afternoon at 12349 Stanwood Court in the Stanwood at Berkeley subdivision, just off Nuckols Road, near its intersection with Pouncey Tract. Neighbors we spoke to on the scene said a polyurethane tank, parked in the driveway, ignited, sparking the blaze that engulfed the entire house within minutes.

The Henrico Fire Department was on scene within five minutes and appeared to have a hard time tackling the flames. Black smoke was visible for several miles on our way to the fire. There were also unconfirmed reports that the family is on vacation and their dog was inside. No word on whether the animal was rescued, if that was the case.

We’ve posted photos from the fire on our Flickr site, accessible by clicking here.
