A man working on the construction of a six story hotel at the new West Broad Village complex fell 53 feet to his death Tuesday morning. Henrico Police arrived on scene around 7:45 AM. The worker was constructing a section of the building’s floor and reportedly lost his balance. The incident was ruled an accident, but the state Occupational Safety and Health Administration is investigating to determine just what happened. The victim’s identity has not yet been released. He worked for Tri-State Erectors, based out of North Carolina. The company plans to release an official statement once the investigation is complete.
