The new Whole Foods Market in West Broad Village is on track to open September 3, 2008. The grocery chain is new to Richmond, and specializes in high end goods and organic foods. Management is offering a special sneak peek of the store on Tuesday, September 2, 2008, one day before the official opening. Read more
Taylor Family Seeks $10 Million From Convicted Teen

Sarah Ann Haislip, the Deep Run High School student convicted of killing 29-year-old Wesley Taylor on New Year’s Day 2007 when she drove home drunk, was just released from jail this past Friday. However, her troubles seem to go on. The family of Taylor has now filed suit against Haislip, who recently turned 18, seeking $10 million in compensation, in addition to $350,000 in punitive damages. Man Accused Of Indecent Exposure Charged In Additional Incidents

Henrico Police have linked man accused of indecent exposure at multiple retail and restaurant establishments in Short Pump with additional incidents. Christopher Scheu, a 37-year-old Richmond man, was arrested in July for exposing himself to a patron of the Starbucks at West Tower. He’s now been traced to other indecent exposure episodes, including ones at the Starbucks at Westgate (across from Short Pump Town Center), the Pita Pit at the Shoppes at Innsbrook, and the Barnes & Noble in the Downtown Short Pump shopping complex. There were seven incidents reported by police since December 2007 in the Short Pump area, but no word on whether the other incidents involve Scheu.

Only a few short weeks ago, we reported via our Twitter feed that popular music stars Rihanna and Chris Brown were spotted at Short Pump Town Center. Well, it’s happened once again, and this time there are pictures. Brown, a native of Tappahannock, Virginia, seems to frequent the Richmond area. Read more
Deep Run Student Released From Jail

17-year-old Sarah Ann Haislip, a former Deep Run student, was released from jail Friday morning after serving almost a year at the James River Juvenile Detention Center in Powhatan. Haislip left a party intoxicated around midnight New Years Day of last year and hit another car, at the intersection of West Broad Street and Lauderdale Drive (pictured) driven by 29-year-old Wesley Taylor, a former bartender at the Short Pump Applebee’s. Henrico County Open Cancelled Indefinitely

The PGA’s developmental circuit, the Nationwide Tour, has long had a stop in the Far West End of Richmond at The Dominion Club. But next year, with the lack of a presenting sponsor, the County of Henrico has withdrawn its sponsorship of the event, forcing club officials to cancel the annual event indefinitely. The Nationwide Tour is the qualifying series for golfers to earn their PGA Tour cards, and is where almost all United States players get their start in the professional golf organization. Read more
Deep Run Principal Departs For Chesterfield County

Dr. Aaron Spence, principal of Deep Run High School since its opening in 2002, is leaving his position after seven years at the school. He’s heading to Chesterfield County to become the new Director of Cirriculum and Instruction for the school system and will leave sometime before Henrico County Public School’s opening date of September 2, 2008.
