Taylor Family Seeks $10 Million From Convicted Teen

Sarah Ann Haislip, the Deep Run High School student convicted of killing 29-year-old Wesley Taylor on New Year’s Day 2007 when she drove home drunk, was just released from jail this past Friday. However, her troubles seem to go on. The family of Taylor has now filed suit against Haislip, who recently turned 18, seeking $10 million in compensation, in addition to $350,000 in punitive damages.

The suit claims that Haislip deliberately comitted a criminal act when she chose to drive her vehicle home that evening, even when her blood alcohol level was almost twice the legal limit. Now that Haislip is legally considered an adult, she is the sole defendant, and consequently her parents are not likely to be targeted for compensation.
