It has now been confirmed that two people were found dead in a house fire that tore through a house at 2404 Bridgehaven Terrace, located off Glen Eagles Drive near Pump & Church Roads on Wednesday morning. We first reported just after the blaze that fire officials feared one person had been trapped inside and died, but there were indeed two individuals that never made it out.
Neighbors can confirm that three women from Thailand lived in the home. Commonwealth’s Attorney Wade Kizer said the names have not yet been released.
It took crews hours to get in and search for victims, as the home needed to be braced with wooden beams to keep the remnants of the structure from collapsing onto neighboring homes. The cause of the fire is still under investigation at this point, and fire crews aren’t ruling any possibilities out, including foul play.
The Greater Richmond chapter of the American Red Cross was on scene Wednesday morning providing assistance to the family. The house was under contract at the time according to a real estate sign in the front yard.
Police went door to door just after the fire was put out, trying to collect any witness statements. Anyone who may have seen anything this morning that would provide clues to what sparked the blaze are asked to call Henrico Fire’s tip line at 804-652-FIRE.
