Clearing Begins For New 47 Acre Shopping Development

One of the last stands of trees along West Broad Street is giving way to the latest retail development, The Corner At Short Pump. Visible clearing could be seen at the site as early as Monday. Situated on 47 acres at (as the name suggests) the corner of West Broad Street and Lauderdale Drive, the center will feature 225,000 square feet of retail space.

A Kroger supermarket will occupy 86,000 square feet of the total space, and was the only business that has announced plans to occupy the shopping center at press time.

Other planned uses include a townhouse development to the rear of the retail buildings and the construction of a Three Chopt Road extension that will eventually tie into Gayton Road with future development. Renderings of the development can be seen below.
