Police Investigate Whether Deadly House Fire Was Arson

As the investigation into a deadly house fire that killed two Thai women at 2404 Bridgehaven Terrace continues, police have new leads in the case. Documents filed at Henrico County Circuit Court show that police obtained a search warrant to enter the home just after the fire was put out to seek evidence of arson.

A second warrant shows they searched an apartment last Wednesday near the intersection of Hungary and Springfield Roads and seized a computer, DVD, personal documents, various photos, and a lighter. Police decline to say whether the lighter is part of the investigation, but say they’re not ruling anything out at this point.

The two women who died were Orawan Lungtaekul, 34, and Nitchawan Srikhanwong, 27. The two worked at Tara Thai at Short Pump Town Center. One as a waitress and one as assistant manager, respectively.

An acquaintance and former co-worker of both women, Kriss L. Fat, was arrested last Wednesday on charges of identity theft. Police say Fat may have made credit card purchases exceeding $4,000 in one of the women’s names.

Authorities are trying to connect the women to this suspicious case, but no further details are being released at this point. The official cause of death of the two women has not yet been released.
