New Day Care & Learning Center To Hold Grand Opening

The new Tutor Time Child Care & Learning Center in the Towne Center West development (just west of Short Pump Town Center) will hold a grand opening celebration this Saturday, November 1, 2008 from 11:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. Many family activities are planned throughout the day including the chance for kids to meet firefighters and tour a firetruck. New Highway Flyover Ramp Nears Completion

The largest and most significant phase of the I-64/I-295 interchange construction project is finally nearing completion. Although official word has yet to be given from the Virginia Department of Transportation concerning an official date of opening, the flyover ramp connecting eastbound Interstate 64 traffic with Interstate 295 is almost done. Gas prices in the Short Pump area continue to tumble. Readers reported a record low price (to recent standards) at Costco on West Broad Street at Springfield Road via our Twitter account Tuesday evening. Gas was only $1.96 per gallon for regular as of press time. All four stations in the heart of the Short Pump area at West Broad Street & Pouncey Tract Road were seen hovering at the same exact price of $2.29. Read more
Saxon Shoes To Open Fredericksburg Location

Saxon Shoes, a local, family-owned shoe store at Short Pump Town Center, plans to extend its reach outside the Richmond area by opening a new store in Fredericksburg. Store owner Gary Weiner said the new store, set to open in a new open-air lifestyle complex (similar to Short Pump Town Center) in Spotsylvania County would be 19,100 square feet and have almost as many shoes and accessories as the Short Pump store. There will be giveaways, discounts from various retailers, a raffle, baked goods for sale, and live music from Cross River Band from 5:00-7:00 p.m. A portion of the proceeds from purchased goods will go to Breast Cancer Awareness. New Short Pump Voting Precinct Created

With the current state of the economy and many other important issues at stake, a record voter turnout is expected for the presidential election on November 4, 2008. To accommodate additional voters, Henrico County has split two voting precincts, as well as created new ones. More than 7,000 Henrico voters will be affected by the changes. Read more
New Traffic Signal In Works For Nuckols & Pouncey Tract Intersection

Henrico County traffic engineers are in the process of installing a new traffic signal at the intersection of Nuckols and Pouncey Tract Roads, near Wyndham. The intersection is plagued by high traffic during the morning and afternoon rush hours, and drivers find it difficult to make left turns because of the stream of oncoming traffic down Nuckols Road. The signal is expected to be installed by late November or early December. Read more
