Details Released On Sarah Palin’s “Road To Victory Rally” At Deep Run High School

More information has been released on Sarah Palin’s visit to Short Pump on Saturday night. We were the first to break story yesterday and received many inquiries about more information on the event. The Alaskan governor and vice-presidential candidate will hold a “Road To Victory Rally” at Deep Run High School on Saturday at 8:00 p.m.

Doors open at 6:00 p.m. and space will be limited. Free tickets are available for download online at http://virginia.johnmccain.com, as well as at John McCain’s local campaign headquarters, at 2819 N. Parham Road, Suite 210, across from Tucker High School.

The event is part of a last minute whirlwind tour by the McCain campaign through the key battleground state of Virginia, where 13 electoral votes are up for grabs. We will be at the rally and hope to provide both photos and video of the event, as well as have community and voter reaction to her comments.

Special Note: We welcome your comments below and your political views from any perspective, but please keep your comments civil and on point. Hateful comments and those that personally attack other individuals or groups are not tolerated and will be deleted immediately.

    I'M SO EXCITED.

  2. Newc says:

Sarah Palin is amazing, and would make a great Vice President! Who cares about her 150k wardrobe… Hillary Clinton didn't take any flak for hers!!! McCain/Palin 08!

  3. danger k says:

Sarah Palin is a disgrace to educated women everywhere. I imagine she's coming to Deep Run to feed upon the stay-at-home moms who blindly follow her. She's uneducated, incapable, and polarizing, and it's a shame that my old high school is hosting her!

  4. Toast says:

    @ danger k –

Get over it. I wouldn't sit around and whine if DRHS were hosting Obama or Biden. In fact, I'd probably go, despite my intense dislike of both. This could be considered a historic event, and I don't care who DR is hosting – the fact that they're hosting someone so larger-than-life right now is exciting.

    to "danger k"

Just because people feel differently than you does not mean that they're uneducated and "blindly" following a certain political party. There is a way to disagree without being disrespectful. You have the right to vote for whoever you want, but so does everyone else, whether they agree with you or not. That's called democracy. You also have the right to go or not go to Deep Run to see Sarah Palin. She is campaigning, just like Obama, Biden and McCain. I, personally, find it exciting that we are in such a political hot spot that both parties have sent their candidates to Richmond to try to win our votes.

  6. Mamamia says:

Danger k — if you are a DR grad you are young and are showing your age. Stay at home mom's are largely educated and provide the back bone of volunteerism in the community. You have no idea what you are talking about.

  7. math wizzard says:

has obama been a major of any town ? sarah palin has—

has obama been a governor of any state ? sarah palin has—

where is the experience that obama brings to the most important job we have?

    i'll tell you —-it's nowhere

  8. freshyyy! says:

    GODWIN is BETTERRRR!

  9. Octaveand1 says:

I attended college and earned a teaching degree. After teaching for a year I was married. Then I had 6 children and adopted 1. I chose to be a STAY-AT-HOME mom because I felt it would be a disservice to my children to do otherwise. 5 have completed college and are active citizens in their respective communities. One has married a Marine who served 2 deployments in Iraq. One is in college and the other is a high school senior, not at DR. I am attending a local community college (7) credits to re-career and working 35 hours a week. I've enjoyed 30 years of marriage. All this to say, John McCain and Sarah Palin represent all that has helped me to succeed now and in the future. A vote for them is a vote for the best future for America if it is to continue to be a major world leader and example of democracy! God Bless America!

  10. JustaSAHM says:

I haven't heard about this anywhere else and I'm hoping to attend. I have so much respect for Gov. Palin. I am a UVa educated SAHM and am certainly not blindly following her. I agree with her politics and don't want a bigger government with more dependents. I also don't want to pay higher taxes so the 40% of Americans that pay no federal income tax can get a rebate. The Democrats want to rob Americans of the privilege of succeeding on their own. Those who depend on the government to provide for their needs are always disappointed. Just because people don't agree with your views, danger k, please don't insinuate we're ignorant. It's not very tolerant of you.

I largely agree with this notion, and find that many other women at my ivy-league university feel the same (about Palin, not about DRHS, obviously). While she may appeal to different groups for different reasons, she barely has a college education, is very polarizing, and is in no position to have such a high office in our country. It's great that she's representing in our local community, but I still wouldn't vote for her since she does not seem to know what she's doing.

  12. JP says:

McCain definitely made a terrible choice in his running mate. Sarah Palin is uneducated and she has no experience at the national level. She does not understand the current economic crisis and would not be able to handle any internal conflicts efficiently. Furthermore, she has absolutely no foreign policy experience (Alaska's proximity to Russia is complete BS). Palin has also used her government positions to give jobs to friends and to take revenge on her personal enemies (http://www.nytimes.com/2008/09/14/us/politics/14p... Overall, Sarah Palin is inexperienced, uneducated, incompetent, unreliable, untrustworthy, and would be a terrible vice president (let's just hope that she never becomes president).

Nevertheless, I think I may still go to the rally just to see her utterly humiliate herself. Hopefully I won't be beaten up by any naive and ignorant Palin-fanatics.

    OBAMA '08!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  13. Darden Bell says:

Say what you want about Palin's experience, but the fact is she would be VP not Pres. Obama has hardly any experience whatsoever. Two or three years in the Senate does not qualify you to be President of our nation during such a crucial economic time. If you didn't already know, we live in a capitalist country, not a socialist or communist country. Therefore, anyone who works hard enough, and has the desire to succeed can go anywhere in life — that's what scholarships and Pell Grants are for. I did not get a Master's of Accountancy degree to watch a financial moron ruin our economy and take more of my money and give it to less motivated people who had the same opportunities as everyone else in this country. National Healthcare? Give me a break. Canada is the only country who has implemented national healthcare on somewhat of a successful basis — but that's because our country subsidises almost 70% of their healthcare costs. We can't afford national healthcare, and the quality of our healthcare would diminish severely. Look at Obama's plan closely (when it finally stops changing), he wants to reduce spending in some areas, but the net difference is a TRILLION dollar increase in spending from what we are currently spending. Yet somehow he's going to lower taxes? NOT POSSIBLE. He wants to raise the corporate tax rate? We already have the highest corporate tax rate in the world, which makes it difficult to attract foreign companies to our economy. In addition, that would cause more unemployment because companies wouldn't be able to employ as many people. I found an article on Politofact or some other website that showed Obama had lied, told half truths, or flipped flopped around 175 times in less than a year. He's "acquaintances" with Ayers, who proudly bombed the Pentagon, and Obama has bloodlines straight to terrorist organizations. Can we honestly trust him? Look at the facts people, don't get sucked in by insignificant BS. Obama will ruin our country. Mark my words, we will be attacked with him in office, and we will become financially weaker in the global economy. World powers have historically fallen typically as fast as they have risen through the course of history. Well America rose to be a world power very quickly in the grand scheme of things, and if Obama wins this election, our descent to insignificance will actually begin.

darden – since you obviously went to college, have you ever taken a sociology class? because if you did, you would know that not everyone has the same opportunity in this country, for many, many reasons. that being said, my foreign parents came from nothing and made something out of themselves, thanks to this system – but that doesn't mean that there aren't people out there who need help or don't deserve it, nor does it mean that they are less motivated. without systems in place to help people who need it (how much or how little is left up to debate), we would have a ridiculous income gap worse than that of china or brazil. for someone who sees our country's financial situation as complex as it is, you should also try to realize how complicated the social system is. in addition, canada is not the only country that has had a successful implementation of a nationalized healthcare system, nor does barack obama want a healthcare system of that nature.

btw – vp or not, palin is ridiculous. ridiculously bad and a barely a role model for anybody who is not a white christian. while it's great that she can lead white christians (who doesn't need a role model?), a national leader should have a broader appeal in a country as diverse as ours. and who knows, if elected, she might have to be just that if anything were to happen to mccain. it's great that she's visiting but i hope to goodness that they don't win. that woman makes me sick

  15. mdg says:

Just a note for those who complain that Palin is "barely" educated. Book smarts may get you a job but real world experience will educate you in what it really takes to to be a CEO. Mayor of a small town and then governor of a state is worth way more than ten law degrees and a "trainer" with ACORN. She is way more qualified than Obama. If an employer was looking at their two resumes, she would get the job hands down. As far as lack of foreign policy expererience, yeah Biden has way more but he has put his foot in his mouth so many times, I can only imagine what problems he will create by saying something stupid at the wrong time. With Obama in the White House and a democratic congress, this country could be sent into a downward spiral that it may never recover from. Of course they'll blame the "last eight years of failed policies" for everything that goes wrong.

  16. caro says:

First of all, if you are educated and intellegent, then make an intellegent rebuttal. Remeber, do not throw stones for we are all without sin. If you are a DRHS grad, you are very young and have not had any experience in the real world. Sarah Palin and John McCain offer real world experience and education that you can not dispute. Live through some of the struggle of raising a family in today's world and then voice your opinion. VOTE MCCAIN/PALIN!!!!

  17. CB says:

It's important to realize that everybody's vote counts equally – a young person has just as much say in who gets elected president as does an older person who may have "real world" experience. This election is just as likely to be decided by young voters as it is by older voters, so please don't imply that your vote is more important than a young person's vote. It's not. And who's to say that you can't dispute real world experience of a candidate? And what about all those "older" voters with "real world experience," education, "living through the struggle," etc. voting for Obama?

  18. bf says:

    VOTE MCCAIN/PALIN 2008! COUNTRY FIRST.

  19. Scott Daniels says:

The media has been so hostile to Governor Palin. She is more qualified than Barrak Obama. I'm impressed by graciousness despite her negative treatment. She is going to be a steller political figure for years to come.

  20. John Cunningham says:

To Octaveand1: you are stupid. Bragging about your teaching degree is not the way to convince people that you are smart. A teaching degree is a non-academic excuse of a degree. If you went to graduate school for your teaching degree then that is a different story.
