A local woman was killed this weekend on Springfield Road near Echo Lake Park when she over-corrected her 1994 Ford Explorer while rounding a sharp curve, Henrico Police said. 58-year-old Barbara Daniel, of the 3000 block of Stone Arbor Lane, was killed on impact. The woman was not wearing a seatbelt when her car flipped and struck a tree just before midnight on Saturday.

This dangerous, rural stretch of Springfield Road has a series of sharp curves and a steep grade as it winds down to Echo Lake. Posted signs warn motorists to slow down while turning, but a number of accidents have still occured on this portion of the roadway.
