In a little over a month, Henrico County plans to start work on a new water main project along Pouncey Tract Road. The County has marked off the western side of the road with flags from Twin Hickory Lake Drive to Shady Grove Road. Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) spokeswoman Dawn Eischen says that while this is not a VDOT project, Henrico County has contracted them to do the work.

“Work in the vicinity of Shady Grove [Road] must be completed prior to any work for the North Gayton [Road Extension] project,” Eischen said. The project will bring necessary water lines from the Twin Hickory area up to the intersection of Shady Grove and Pouncey Tract Roads, which will be a major intersection in the future. The County’s North Gayton Road Extension project will bring Gayton Road northward across Interstate 64 to connect with Shady Grove Road.

“The work along Pouncey Tract should begin around the first week of March, as the contractor is starting on Shady Grove,” Eischen said. “In order to minimize disruptions to drivers, the majority of work along Pouncey Tract will occur between 7:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m.”
