The bargain hunters are back at Circuit City’s Short Pump headquarters. The electronics store’s Deep Run III building was opened Tuesday to shoppers. But unlike the sale that ended at Deep Run II, this one is going to take longer – until April – and prices are not negotiable yet. The sale of everything in Deep Run II has been completed, and the building has been handed over to the landlord.
There are still Circuit City employees working on the upper floors of Deep Run III. So what kind of bargains are available this time? It’s hard to tell. Around 40 people were waiting Tuesday for their chance to grab speakers, tube televisions (not flat-screens) and other off-brand models of electronics that were likely free samples sent to Circuit City’s purchasing department. Liquidation supervisor Jerry Strong was escorting shoppers 10 at a time through several meeting rooms on the first floor. The goods consisted of printers, copiers and an assortment of cords. Most of the printers were IBM model 1352.
An electronic Circuit City sign that might have hung in a store was for sale for $2,500. A handful of shoppers asked about the computers. According to sources at the sale, the computers will not be available until the memory is deleted. That will take at minimum one more week. And furniture will not be available until the printers and computers are sold to make room, Strong said.
There’s also a chance that the liquidator will sell all the computers or flat panel TVs to a bulk buyer, Strong said. The copiers range in price from $250 to $12,000. Furniture will cost from $25 to $500.
