Pizza Fusion: Eco-Friendly, All-Natural & Organic

I visited Pizza Fusion shortly after opening it’s doors down the strip from Trader Joe’s in the Short Pump Station shopping center. It was a pretty busy night and though the seating was sparse, we found a couple of spots at the bar to eat. Generally “eating at the bar” is an unsavory, smoke riddled, draft beer and fried food kind of experience, but Pizza Fusion is perfectly smoke free and the bar is little more than another place to sit. If busier, seating would have been a problem and it didn’t appear that they were ready for the kind of hungry crowds Short Pump delivers on typical “eat out” nights.
Pizza Fusion has made being eco-friendly and healthy their top priority. They mentioned on their website that they didn’t go the eco-friendly route to hop on the “green” bandwagon. Instead, they made the decision because it’s the right thing to do. From my bar stool, I could tell that they are definitely doing things differently than your average pizza joint. They use all-natural and organic ingredients in all of their foods and even offer gluten-free options. The bar was made from recycled materials and their delivery vehicle is a Toyota Prius.
In addition to their all-natural and organic food options, they also serve all-natural and organic drinks. Beer, sodas, juices, they have lots to choose from, but none of it is crammed with artificial ingredients and sweeteners. I had a Boylan’s cream soda and it was awesome. We ordered a pepperoni pizza and a tomato pizza. The pepperonis were huge, but easily as good, if not better than what we are all used to with pepperoni. The tomato pizza was also good, but the tomatoes were pretty seedy, which we didn’t like.
I definitely enjoyed the clean and earth friendly atmosphere and though we found one ingredient we didn’t care for, the food itself was very tasty and worth eating again. On a busy night, I suggest delivery since they are not a big restaurant, but if you are looking for a new place to try and it happens to be earlier in the week, Pizza Fusion is the way to go. And remember: get a Boylan’s soda to drink!

I have been to PIzza Fusion multiple times and after the last visit i have decided the only time i will eat there again will be to pick up the pizza and take it home since i live to far out for delivery. The pizza is amazing but the service is a little slow. I understand making pizzas to order takes a little bit and i have no problem with that. I will wait for wonderful pizza. I just have a problem waiting 15 minutes to get my check, being served a ginger ale where the top of the bottle was broken and served to me, and having lipstick on my glass which wasn’t mine.
I would rather just call in and pick up then eat in there again.
Agree, the pizza is pretty good, but service is deplorable. Waited over 45 minutes for a carry out, asked about it several times, and the last time they “found” it sitting on the counter.
And don’t even think about ordering a salad — ordered a $9.00 – supposedly meal sized – and got a plastic tub of wilted lettuce, no more than one cup. I gave it back to the counter guy and asked him if he really expected me to pay nine bucks for that. He got another one — not as wilted, but still not worth the price. It was really just a side salad priced like a meal.
Sent an email complaint to corporate and never got a response. I think there are plenty of better options in the West End. Would not recommend this place.
I visited this place twice since it opened. The first time on a Friday night and no room to sit. So I returned a few weeks later on a slower mid-day Saturday. Have to agree the prices are high and wanted to try the gluten free pizza but not at those prices. The service was extremely slow and yest waited very long just to get my check. They really need to improve the service (speed), add more seating and lower your prices a bit. Nice to try once, but won’t visit again.
** note** since I haven’t seen a review for the Frostings a few doors down. Don’t waste your time and money on this place either. Small cupcakes for $2.25 for one. I can make a dozen for that price and taste better.
Pizza Fusion seems to have the kinks worked out. My pizza there tonight was served quickly and the waitress (Ellen) was wonderful. I noticed that they have gluten-free crust on the menu which might be appealing to some folks. Yes, the menu is not inexpensive, but you do have to pay more for quality, organic ingredients. I think it’s kind of nice that something like this has finally made it to Richmond (well, to Short Pump!). If you want cheap pizza, order Little Caesar’s and eat it at home! If you want quality and are willing to pay a bit more, Pizza Fusion’s a good choice.
I ate at Pizza Fusion recently, yes it’s a little pricey but you get what you pay for. Organic and all natural ingredients(which is all they offer) are much more expensive than regular ingredients. The pizza tasted amazing and the organic lager was huge and tasted great too. It fits well with the uppity short pump crowd. The service i had was excellent and took about 20 minutes to get our pizza, but thats because the pizzas are fresh and made to order. If you want fresh, superior quality and superior tasting pizza go to pizza fusion. If you want crap go to dominos.
I love the pizza and the salads. This is such an awesome place! I have been here multiple times and will continue to keep going back. The only downside is if you have to eat gluten free it is a bit expensive but at least you have that option unlike other pizza places.
