Capital One Financial Corporation announced plans to eliminate almost 40 jobs in the Richmond area, some of which are reportedly at the company’s West Creek campus, just west of Short Pump off Route 288. The layoffs mainly came from the U.S. Card division, which manages customer accounts and credit card acquisitions.
The exact number of employees receiving pink slips at the location is not yet known. Richmond is bearing the brunt of the layoffs, 60 in all company-wide. The remaining positions will be cut from the headquarters in McLean, Virginia according to spokeswoman Julie Rakes. Affected employees will be offered severance packages and assistance finding other jobs.
