Henrico Police are investigating a shooting that took place in a parking deck at the new West Broad Village urban mixed use development early Sunday morning. Police were called to the 4000 block of Brownstone Boulevard around 1:00 a.m. A man was reportedly grazed in the groin by a single bullet.

The victim was driven to the Parham Road Henrico Doctor’s Hospital campus by a friend for treatment. Police say four men were seen leaving the scene in a gray pickup truck.

Another bullet was found nearby in the same parking deck. No word on the motive for this shooting or what type of weapon was used.

Police ask anyone with information pertaining to this case to call Metro Richmond Crime Stoppers at 780-1000.

Freaky stuff, the WalMart parking lot stuff a month or so back, now this. Short Pump is going to get a bad name if this keeps up.

I have a friend who isn’t such a fan of the new Dave and Buster’s for just this reason. Wonder if D&B was what brought these folks to the parking deck. Given the time of this incident, my assumption would be yes.

Things like this are also a reason why I don’t like Dave & Buster’s, and I really wouldn’t be surprised if it had something to do with this incident.

If you’ve ever been to the D&B in Atlanta, you might be able to make a connection. It starts out as a nice place for regular people to hang out, then eventually becomes just another arcade complete with the slacker/seedy stereotypes. We went to the ATL D&B frequently when it opened, haven’t been in 10 years for this reason. Hope this doesn’t happen to Short Pump.

We actually left D&B on Saturday night for just this reason. You couldn’t get a table (we waited for 2 hours) and the clientele were acting in an extremely crass manner, to say the least. Kona Grill was wonderful, however!

There are two in long island, NY and the the atmosphere was always fun and enjoyable. Never like this.

Actually crime in the suburbs is happening at a larger rate and its not just Henrico but Chesterfield and Hanover too. Crime is finally leaving the city and entering the counties. You can’t ever run away from problems and must deal with what goes on.

There are a few things that need to happen at WBV
    1) Eagle and Ryan homes need to include bullet-proof vests in the price of the homes that they are building in WBV.
    2) They need to change the name of the development to “Wild-Wild West Broad Village”

or, instead of the above . . .

give D&B the boot. Folks are saying that this is an event that could happen anywhere but really . . . D&B is evidently a late-night sports bar. For crying out loud! Why have it in the middle of an “upscale” neighborhood?
