Sweet Frog: A Sweet & Unique Addition To Short Pump
Sweet Frog recently opened its doors in the Downtown Short Pump shopping center at the corner of Broad & Pouncey Tract. Situated next to Regal Cinemas, Sweet Frog took the place of the former Silver Time Jewelry location. It’s hard to miss with the huge inflatable rainbow and pop music coming from the speakers outside to announce the grand opening.
The first thing you’ll notice upon walking into Sweet Frog is the bright, modern design. The lighting, chairs and tables are all reminiscent of some of the cool stuff you might find at IKEA. The walls are bright green and give the space a light, upbeat feel.
The friendly staff greeted my friends and I and directed us over to a wall filled with self-serve frozen yogurt machines. You simply grab a cup and fill it up with as little or as much frozen yogurt as you’d like. I mixed together the New York cheesecake and strawberry flavors.
After creating your mix, you can add an array of toppings at the extensive topping bar, featuring everything from fresh fruit like watermelon and pineapple chunks to sundae bar standards like sprinkles, chocolate syrup and crumbled candy bar pieces.
After adding your toppings, the cashier will weigh your tasty treat. The current price is 39 cents per ounce, bringing my cup filled with frozen yogurt and several toppings to just under $3.50; very reasonable if you ask me. Staff indicated that the current price is a grand opening promotion and will increase slightly in a few weeks.
Sweet Frog is sure to attract lots of foot traffic from movie-goers who are looking for a quick pick-me-up. The shop complements neighboring “quick eats” like A Slice of Grapevine (pizza restaurant) and Johnny Rockets (hamburger chain) who all seem to appeal to the high school and college crowds, arguably the largest demographic at the Regal theater that anchors the shopping center.
If you’re looking for a refreshingly-unique and locally-owned place to get a quick treat, check out Sweet Frog. The cheery atmosphere will bring you in, but the killer frozen yogurt will bring you back again.

Easily the best new store/restaurant in the area. Been 4 times already with plans to return this weekend. Fruit toppings are amazingly fresh and delicious, and the choices or flavor combinations are endless!

This is by far an absolutely great place to get a tasty treat for all ages. Very friendly people that run the place and great atmosphere. I highly suggest visiting Sweet Frog to everyone!
Visited for the first time this week and we WILL be back. What a great concept. My eight year old loved it and so did her thirty something mama. 90 calories and no fat in half a cup of the yogurt AND it’s GOOD. Several flavors of soft serve yogurt and tons of toppings. The place is so clean, the owner is very friendly and the decor is great. He told me it is not a chain but his own idea. I’d love to see him succeed – check it out!
Love this place! My husband & I went for the first time last weekend after a movie. I love that you pay by the weight instead of the number of different toppings. The ingredients are so fresh & the yogurt is very refreshing in this hot summer weather. We went back for our second visit yesterday & will no doubt be back again in the near future.

Im eating Sweet Frog for the first time as I type this….the Very Strawberry topped with real Strawberries, Dark Chocolate drops and whipped cream. Talk about YUMMY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Good grief! I cannot believe how much great stuff you get for such a low price. My kkids went crazy there. Went tonight. I got chocolate with brownie chuncks, oreo cookies, and almonds. My only regret is that I didn;t get more.
I went to the one in Chesterfield and saw that they did not use gloves when handling the brownies. Buyer beware!
This place is NASTY and most likely bearing food allergins ? Also the owner DEREK CHA is a major ASSWHOLE ,who is constantly attempting to screw somebody .Products are full of corn frutoise etc. NOT A HEALTHY PLACE
i'm not sure about the one in chesterfield, but i personally know the owner in short pump and i work at the one in charlotteville. i can assure that everything is extremely sanitary, well-kept, and pretty nutritious as far as frozen yogurt goes. it's all non-fat, and there's even a non-dairy mango option. toppings are all freshly prepared and never old.
SWEET FROG IS THE GREATEST THING THAT EVER HAPPEND TO THIS WORLD EVER!! (AT LEAST I THINK SO) I WOULD GLADLY GO THERE EVERY SINGLE DAY IF I COULD!!
