In Depth: Henrico Approves $48 Million North Gayton Road Extension Project

Henrico Board of Supervisors on Wednesday night approved a $48 million plan to alleviate some of Short Pump’s most congested roadways. Construction of the North Gayton Road extension could get underway in as little as a couple weeks. Project details were presented to the public, and though most citizens seemed to agree the project is much needed, not all agreed on its implementation. Read more
Judge Sides With Hotel Owner In West Broad Village Case

A federal judge ruled in favor of the Aloft hotel at the West Broad Village development on Wednesday. Aloft’s attorneys filed a complaint with the mixed use center’s developer, Unicorp National Developments of Orlando, Florida, last week. The complaint alleged that Unicorp breached its contract with the hotel by not meeting various obligations and deadlines. Read more
Innsbrook-Based LandAmerica Creditors Miffed By New Fed Hire

Short Pump Town Center Crash Victim Identified

Henrico Police have released the identity of the woman killed in a four vehicle accident that occurred at the main entrance of Short Pump Town Center just before noon on Friday. 62-year-old Diane Wheat died after her Honda Civic was T-boned by a GMC Yukon. Read more
West Broad Village Hotel Files Complaint Against Project Developer

There are new issues in the development of the huge West Broad Village mixed use complex in Short Pump. Attorneys for the upscale Aloft hotel under construction at the 115-acre development filed a formal complaint seeking to force developer Unicorp National Developments of Orlando, Florida to complete outstanding construction work before the hotel’s August 6 opening date. One Dead Following Multi-Car Accident At Short Pump Town Center

One person has been killed and and three have reportedly been hospitalized following a four vehicle accident just before noon Friday in front of Short Pump Town Center. Henrico Police say an SUV flew over the median going westbound on West Broad Street at Lauderdale Drive and struck three vehicles at the main entrance of the mall. Read more
Christmas Coming Early To Short Pump Town Center

The non-profit band Offering, Lite 98 FM and Short Pump Town Center are hosting a “Christmas in July” event to raise money for the Central Virginia Foodbank on July 25. I-295 Resurfacing Set To Get Underway This Week

VDOT will begin a resurfacing project on I-295 south in Henrico County between the Interstate 64 interchange (Exit 53) and Route 33 (Exit 49) Sunday evening. The work will be performed weeknights between 8 p.m. and 6 a.m. and some weekends during non-peak hours through next summer. Read more
