Destroyed Innsbrook Office Building Rises From The Ashes

Last July, an electrical fire destroyed a two-story office building at 5230 Sadler Place near in Innsbrook. Damage was estimated at $1.1 million. In October 2008, the burnt-out shell was demolished. Never mind a glut of office space in the area. Owners Rick and Sarah Jarvis, who also own One South Realty, decided to rebuild.
They started reconstruction in March. They spent $750,000 to rebuild the 8,600 square-foot structure.
“I didn’t have my cell phone on me. The County of Henrico tracked down my wife’s phone, called her and said, ‘We got a problem,’” said Rick Jarvis. “I refused to believe it was this building.”
“The building was fully insured, so we were able to put it back up within the budget. It worked out about as well as it could have worked out,” he said.
That work finished a couple of months ago, and the building is 50 percent leased with two tenants: mortgage company Prime Lending and A CPU4U, Inc. Jarvis said he has two letters of intent and after that will have two more spaces available.
Jarvis said the economy did not discourage him from rebuilding because the building offers small space. Jarvis said there are plenty of three- to four-person shops looking for space.
