A Short Pump teen accused of murdering his father made an initial appearance via video conference at Henrico Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court Tuesday. 19-year-old University of Virginia freshman Alan Chang turned himself into police after allegedly killing 47-year-old Jian Zhang Friday night. Former Circuit City Headquarters Up For Sale

The former Circuit City corporate headquarters building near Innsbrook is officially for sale. Thalhimer announced last week that they had been selected as the exclusive representative to market the property. Broker Eric Robison said they have not set an asking price. The property, known as Deep Run I, was recently appraised at $46.2 million. The five-story office building has 288,650 square feet of space. Read more

One of my last memorable calls as a fire captain and paramedic occurred last spring, and it turned out to be a career highlight! Our company was dispatched to a home a few miles away for an “impending birth.” As we approached the scene I was reviewing in my mind some of my training on labor and delivery. After all, this would be a first for me in my 32 years on the job.
The young mother was close to delivering her second child, she had no prenatal care, and when asked which hospital she wanted to be transported to, she picked the one furthest away. I asked if the closest hospital would be okay, and she insisted on her first choice, which was a good twenty-minute transport. Read more

Man Found Dead Overnight In Short Pump Town Center Fitness Club Pool

An American Family Fitness member died in the Short Pump Town Center location’s pool early Thursday morning, according to Henrico Police. Authorities say Paul C. Osborne was discovered floating face down in the pool by overnight staff members around 3:00 a.m. and performed CPR, unsuccessfully, until rescue teams made it to the club. Read more
New Wawa Gas Station & Convenience Store Coming To Innsbrook Area

After trees and two of the few remaining old homes in the area were removed at the corner of West Broad Street and Old Sadler Road next to CarMax several months ago, many readers wrote in asking us what was being built. Plans to build a Wawa had been in the works for several years, and those plans are now a reality. Steel is now rising from the ground to construct the building. Read more
