A long-time fixture of Shockoe Bottom, locally-owned contemporary furniture retailer LaDifference opened the doors of their much-anticipated Short Pump store in West Broad Village Friday. The 7,200 square foot store offers a sampling of the inventory at their 50,000 square foot flagship store downtown.
“For years we’ve had customers driving from the West End and Charlottesville to our flagship store, and what we’ve heard is that they wanted us to be more convenient to where they live,” co-owner Sarah Paxton said. “By opening a second store at West Broad Village, we’re making LaDiff more accessible than ever.”
Buildout of the store at 2436 Old Brick Road, near Dave & Buster’s, was done almost entirely by employees to both cut down on expenses and serve as a teambuilding project, according to the owners, who say the minimalistic interior aims to mimic their flagship location.
Chris Pine, President of Eagle Commercial Realty, said LaDiff is a perfect tenant for West Broad Village, a pedestrian-friendly urban living, office and shopping community in the heart of Short Pump. “We are still very much in a growth phase at West Broad Village, and we expect that LaDiff will be a major draw for many people from around the area,” he said.
