Henrico’s first homicide victim of this year has been identified as store owner Farooq Bhimdi, as reported by NBC 12 WWBT. Police are still investigating the deadly shooting of a store clerk at a convenience store in Henrico around 9:30 p.m. Monday, January 28.
Shots were fired at the Express Way Convenience Store near Mechanicsville Turnpike and Byron Street, not far from Laburnum Avenue Monday evening. Officials say a man attempted to rob the store, shot the clerk three times and fled the store.
When police arrived, they found the clerk lying on the floor and sent him to VCU Medical Center in critical condition. He died at the hospital shortly after.
The suspect is a black male, 18-20 years old, 140 pounds wearing a brown jacket. Police say only they’re searching for this one suspect in connection to this case.
