Questions & Answers
Here are some of the most common questions we get. Hopefully you’ll find the answer to yours!
Q: Who owns Downtown Short Pump?
A: The site is locally owned and operated by Trevor Dickerson.
Q: Where does all the content come from?
A: About 95% of everything you see on the site, from news stories and development updates to photos and videos, is our original work. We have a few staple outside contributors who live in the Short Pump vicinity, too. We want to keep everything as locally-grown as possible. You probably won’t ever see any content produced by anyone outside of Richmond.
Q: Do you have advertising opportunities?
A: Absolutely. Click “Contact” in the navigation bar at the top of the page and select “Advertising Opportunities” from the drop down menu to learn more.
Q: Is the site associated with any retailer or shopping center in Short Pump?
A: No. A surprising number of people ask us this. We’re independent of Short Pump Town Center and the Downtown Short Pump shopping center. We do share the name with that center, but chose our name because of the one-time running joke that Short Pump was a big city back in the days before it was developed, but, ironically, the area really is a city of sorts now.
Q: How can I get involved in the site?
A: There are so many ways you can get involved. We are a site by the community, for the community. We encourage collaboration and creativity on the site. If you’d like to write an article (one-time or recurring), just email it to us. Chances are we’ll publish it right away! We’ll take almost anything, from opinion and business stories to neighborhood updates and restaurant reviews. We also offer (free for everything but items over $50) classified ads. They can be submitted here. Also, we’d love to have some more contributing photographers. You can either email photos to us directly or send them to our Flickr pool. Our user name on Flickr is ShortPump.
Q: Why is ShortPumpHistory.org redirecting me to this site?
A: Downtown Short Pump founder Trevor Dickerson started the Short Pump History site almost a decade ago and wanted to continue to update it just as he always has, but keeping two different Short Pump websites updated is very time consuming. It just makes good sense to have everything in one place, plus we think it’s a wonderful asset to the Downtown Short Pump site.
