An annual favorite returns to the Far West End this year as The West End Academy of Dance and Pilates, Dance and More join together to produce a much loved holiday classic, “The Nutcracker Sweet,” being performed at Deep Run High December 10th and 11th at 2:00 p.m.

Salvation Army Kicking off Holiday Campaign with 36 Consecutive Hours of Music

On Friday, November 11th, Central Virginia will once again welcome the familiar sounds of bells and Christmas music as The Salvation Army begins its annual Red Kettle Campaign.This year’s campaign will officially kick off at 9 a.m. when Matt Sims, Music Director for The Salvation Army Central Virginia, plays his first note at a Red Kettle at Short Pump Town Center. Sims will continue playing notes until 9 p.m. on Saturday, November 12th, having played for a grand total of 36-hours, a feat never before attempted by any Salvation Army musician.

5th Annual Step Up for Down Syndrome 5K This Weekend at Short Pump Town Center

The Down Syndrome Association of Greater Richmond is hosting a great event this weekend at Short Pump Town Center. The organization will hold its fifth annual Step Up for Down Syndrome 5K and Family Festival Saturday, October 8th from 8:30 a.m. until noon.

Delicious food, live music and merchandise from around the world was found in abundance Saturday at the first annual International Food & Culture Festival held at Stratford University. A little rain didn’t put a damper on the festivities, which were moved partially indoors.

Richmond’s Largest Youth Road Race Sprints Into Short Pump October 2nd

Running is a popular activity with adults in the West End of Richmond, but it can be a difficult sport for youth that are still learning and growing, and may not yet be ready to enter a full 5k or 10k race. A great opportunity to test out this growing sport at a more moderate distance is coming up on October 2nd, and will be held outside the Short Pump Town Center.

Snag a Date at the Short Pump Auction on October 13th

Snagajob is now in the dating business. Well, at least for one night. They’re hosting their annual event, Snagadate, at the Aloft Hotel in Short Pump on October 13th. They’re hoping to surpass last year’s fundraising event total which raised almost $11,000 with 100% of the proceeds going to the American Heart Association (AHA). In total, they’ve raised more than $20,000 over the past two years.
