VDOT Holding Public Meeting Tomorrow Regarding Dangerous Section of Springfield Road

The Virginia Department of Transportation will hold a public information meeting tomorrow to gather the community’s input regarding a two mile stretch of Springfield Road that’s seen its share of serious, and sometimes fatal, accidents over the years.

Henrico Police Opening Field Office at West Broad Village

Henrico Police are getting some new digs in the Far West End. The county has signed two leases for field offices in the West End. One of them is in the West Broad Village development. The burden on taxpayers? A mere dollar per year, according to officials.

Photos: Major Progress on North Gayton Road Extension Project

The North Gayton Road Extension Project, Henrico County’s $48 million plan to alleviate congestion throughout Short Pump, is making progress. Crews have placed steel across Interstate 64 for a new bridge, much of the roadway has been paved and a new intersection has been constructed where the new road meets Bacova Drive. Photos of the progress can be seen below.

Construction is now underway on a new elementary school scheduled to open for the 2013-2014 school year. Development on the project, located across from the northwest entrance of Wyndham and the Goochland County line on Pouncey Tract Road, was scheduled to be started back in the spring, but was delayed several months.

Henrico County Offering Free Debris Collection Following Hurricane Irene

Henrico County’s Department of Public Works is offering a free pickup service to assist in residents’ cleanup efforts following Hurricane Irene. The county is currently working to remove debris from public roadways as quickly as possible to ensure roads are safe for the public and emergency response vehicles, which is their first priority.

Kain Road Closed Next Week for Drainage Improvement Project

A rural Short Pump road will be closed beginning next week for construction. The Henrico County Department of Public Works has announced that Kain Road will close beginning Monday, August 15 for drainage improvements related to the North Gayton Road Extension Project.

Neighbors Weigh in on Innsbrook Redevelopment Plan at Community Meeting

Traffic. That was the chief concern of a group of about 80 concerned residents who came out to a meeting about the future of Innsbrook last night at The Place at Innsbrook. The plan, which calls for the redevelopment of Innsbrook from an office park to a mixed use urban center to live, work and play, is currently being hammered out.
