The west corner of West Broad Street and Pouncey Tract Road, vacant for the past several years, is about to get new life breathed into it. A new 12,000-square-foot Walgreen’s drug store has been approved on a 1.62 acre parcel where a former Wachovia Bank and Miller’s Neighborhood Market currently stand. Both will soon be demolished.

After almost a year, the bankruptcy of the Dominion Club is finally coming to end. The Far West End golf and country club’s bankruptcy reorganization plan was approved Wednesday by a federal judge, clearing the way once and for all for members to get at least some of what they are owed and for the club to get back to business as usual.

The building at 9498 West Broad Street, near West Broad Street and Springfield Road, has seen its fair share of occupants over the past decade. First a Black Olive restaurant, then a Hop’s, the building was then a sports bar called That’s BS: Burgers & Sports, before becoming vacant several years ago.

Maybe the view from the top floor was too good to pass up. After initially leasing four of five floors, locally based travel insurance company Mondial Assistance decided to lease all five floors of the Deep Run I office building in Western Henrico.

Diversified Realty Ventures and Markel/Eagle joined forces to purchase Deep Run III for $12.4 million. The 382,570-square-foot building at 9954 Mayland Drive is vacant and will be renovated.
